She felt this was necessary to draw interest from politicians to act to reduce the global warming. Swedish media reported Thunbergs protests and pushed the story. Following the strike, students all around joined Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movements. Students skipped Friday classes to demonstrate against climate change. Climate activists all over the world organized this Global Strike for Climate. It was hugely successful; more than 1.6million people from over 100 countries participated.
