Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961 at Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onestiin Gheorghe Gheorghiu dej, now Onesti Romania). She was the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 in an Olympic occasion. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics coach who would become Comaneci's coach later on, discovered her at age six. Comaneci was the first to compete for time at the national junior championships and finished 13th. In the following year, she was crowned champion. The first time she competed in an international event in an preolympics junior event that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975, she was awarded the All-around Junior Champion. She took home four gold medals and one silver in her senior debut international competition, held in 1975. This was her first time she had competed as an adult. She was the first woman ever to perform reverse double saltos while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago Illinois US. Carol's professional career started in the entertainment industry as a teenager. Her career began by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. These shows were ice skating events with theatrical shows.
